Agriculture and Labor

Labor Day in the U.S. marks the official end of summer and a transition to more indoor activities. For many it means things are slowing down a bit and thoughts start to turn towards the holiday season. While that may be true for much of the country, for those in Kansas agriculture, and depending on the weather, it’s just another day in the office.

Barton Community College will host a “Meet and Greet” for its new Vice President, Dr. Robin Garrett from 4-5 p.m. September 14 at the Shafer Art Gallery, which is located in the Fine Arts Building. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.

Preparing for the 2016 Wheat Crop - Part I

The year in the title isn’t a typo.  Even though it is only August 2nd, good producers are making their decisions for the 2016 wheat crop.  Even though planting is more than a month away, many producers are already facing potential challenges, especially for those planning to plant wheat after summer crops.
