Barton Community College will continue its Kansas History Snapshot series, by featuring “Buffalo Soldiers: An American Legend on the Western Frontier,” a presentation by Fort Larned National Historic Site Park Ranger Celeste Dixon, at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 in the Library.  Catered refreshments will be served.

Barton Community College is offering woodworking courses from 6 to 9:45 p.m. on Mondays from Nov. 2 to Feb. 22 at Ellsworth High School, 211 W. 11th St. in Ellsworth.

The instructor will be David Weeks.  Classes of various levels will be available including Woodworking I (18928), Woodworking II (18930) and the chance to take a class focusing entirely on Individual Woodworking Projects (18931).  Each course will count for three credit-hours.  The cost is $300 per class and materials fees are dependent on materials used.

Artists at Barton Community College showcased their talents at the annual Russell Original Art Review Exhibition at the Russell 4-H Building.  The show ran through Oct. 18 and several Barton students received awards.

The Barton Community College Foundation presents scholarships each year from funds received through its fundraising events, endowments and annual scholarship gifts. For the 2015-16 academic year, the Foundation has selected the following students (listed by hometown) for scholarship offers:

Barton Community College will offer free citizenship classes from 10 a.m. – noon and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the Center for Adult Education, 1025 Main St., Great Bend in room 208.

The Barton Community College Music Department is excited to announce the spring 2016 musical, “The Addams Family: A New Musical,” by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice.

The show is set for 7:30 p.m. on March 4 and 5 with a 2 p.m. matinee March 6.

Auditions are open to everyone and will be held at 7 p.m. November 29 and 30 in the Barton Fine Arts Auditorium. Characters include Grandmama, Lurch, Uncle Fester, Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley and Wednesday.
