Barton employees collected donations for secondhand clothing, shoes, bedsheets and more to help those in need and are opening a “Community Closet” up to local nonprofit agencies and organizations to come “shop” for free items they can use to help community members. The format of a store was developed so agencies can select the items they need the most for their respective organizations.

Barton’s Information services team is working to organize our institution with the tools and technology improvements needed to be able to serve students successfully, simplify enrollment and provide support remotely. This task requires some scheduled maintenance. Banner, Paws, and Degreeworks will be impacted.
The following dates will be used for scheduled maintenance:
Saturday, May 30, 12:01 am – 8:00 am
Saturday, June 6, 12:01 am – 8:00 am
Saturday, July 11, 12:01 am – 8:00 am

The six to ten day outlook (May 26 to 30) indicates normal temperatures and normal precipitation for our area. Looking out eight to fourteen days (May 28 to June 9) indicates normal precipitation and temperatures here. The drought monitor remains largely unchanged as of this past Tuesday.

Barton Community College will be closed Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day.
The college is now on summer hours. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The college will be closed on Fridays through July 31.

Barton Community College has created new class formats in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that students can have an uninterrupted educational experience regardless of the status of the pandemic. Barton plans to continue offering these various options for the fall semester as well if needed.
Barton is now offering the following formats:
LiveOnline – scheduled meeting time; all students participating via Zoom.

Joanna Lockwood and Tana Yellowwolf of Hoisington were named Barton Community College’s 2020 Outstanding Graduates. Dean of Student Services Angie Maddy recognized them as part of Barton’s virtual commencement on Friday.

Barton Community College has announced its 2019-20 Brant J. Ballhorst Student Ambassador of the Year awards. Named in memory of Brant J. Ballhorst, the award recognizes two outstanding Student Ambassadors each year. The winners this year were Karsyn Smith of West Plains, Mo. and Joanna Lockwood of Hoisington.
