The Barton Visual and Performing Arts Department will host its annual Sneak Preview Concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 10 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

The event will feature performances by the Hilltop Singers, Concert Choir, Jazz Ensemble, Prairie Winds Concert Band and Barton Dance Theatre to give the community a peek into what each talented group has in store.

The Barton Community College Theatre Department will present “The Diviners,” by Jim Leonard, Jr at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5, with a matinee at 2 p.m. Oct. 6 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Tickets are $5 at the door; students admitted free with a valid student ID.

The play is the story of a disturbed young man and his friendship with a disenchanted preacher in Southern Indiana in the early 1930s.  This comedic drama highlights well-intentioned friends and neighbors and small-town life.

Barton Community College will host a Chamber Business After Hours from 5-7 p.m. on Sept. 19 in the Classroom Building, room 150 to showcase its Nex-Tech Active Learning Classroom, which utilizes technology solutions to provide a modern educational experience for its students.

NISOD is a membership organization committed to promoting and celebrating excellence in teaching, learning, and leadership at community and technical colleges.

The College Archive News project (Barton Archive) will now be releasing a monthly newsletter. The goal of this publication is to share college history and provide updates about the progress of various projects we are working on to transition the college’s historical collection to an actual archive collection. This is an exciting time for Barton Archive especially with the 50th Anniversary celebration just around the corner. Hope you enjoy this first edition!
