A wide range of local artists’ work will be on display at the Shafer Gallery as part of the Barton County Arts Council Friends and Acquaintances exhibit Sept. 30 through Nov. 3. The show is underwritten by the Bill J. McKown Memorial Endowment distributed by the Golden Belt Community Foundation.

Gallery Director Dave Barnes said this exhibit is a chance to let community members showcase their talents in a professional gallery setting. The show consists of 2D and 3D entries.

“This has become one of the most exciting and popular events at the Shafer Gallery,” he said. “The number of artists who are participating and the quality of the artwork presented is something our community can be proud of. Our roster of friends includes professional, internationally acclaimed artists, local amateur painters and everyone in between.”

Barnes said the exhibit also includes artists new to the exhibit.

“The thing they all have in common is that they have exhibited in and been impacted by the Shafer Gallery,” he said. “The bond is strong and very personal. It is the best opportunity folks have to experience the variety of artistic production in our community. Not to mention it is a great opportunity to get ahead on your Christmas shopping for your aesthetically aware loved ones.”

The Shafer Gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is always free. For more information, contact Barnes at barnesd@bartonccc.edu or (620) 792-9342.
