Barton Community College Theatre will hold auditions for its fall production of “Circle Mirror Transformation” at 7 p.m. Aug. 26 and Aug. 27 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
Those auditioning only need to attend one audition date. No prepared monologue is required. Participants should arrive a few minutes early to complete an audition form. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, and community members and Barton students are encouraged to attend.
Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Annie Baker, “Circle Mirror Transformation” follows five strangers who enroll in an adult creative drama class at a community center. Through a series of acting exercises, the group gradually reveals personal struggles, unexpected connections, and moments of humor and vulnerability.
Barton Theatre Director Jack Greenwood will direct the production. He said the play offers performers the opportunity to develop nuanced characters while telling a heartfelt story.
"It's a beautifully written play that explores the ways people connect, grow, and discover more about themselves," he said. "We are doing something different with this show that I think is really exciting. We hope to give an evening of theater unlike anything our community has experienced before."
