The Barton Community College Instrumental Music Department is once again paying homage to the soundtracks of iconic movies with its fall instrumental concert “Night at the Movies 2: Back with a Vengeance,” at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 18 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Free general admission tickets and live stream information are available at shows.bartonccc.edu. Free tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event.

Guests can arrive at 7 p.m. and will have the opportunity to take pictures with heroes from the silver screen. There will be raffle movie prizes including props, posters, and other fun movie-related items.

This year’s interactive experience will feature the Prairie Winds Concert Band, Barton Jazz Ensemble, and Barton’s rock band “The Riff” performing popular music from well-known blockbuster film soundtracks.

Director of Instrumental Activities Dr. Luis Palacios is excited to present this one-of-a-kind experience once again to Barton County.

“The audience should be prepared to experience this music in a whole new and exciting way,” he said. “We are bringing back a sequel to one of our most popular concerts with bigger and more exciting music from your favorite movies.”

Palacios said the audience will be able to view movie clips on one of three large projectors while simultaneously enjoying the music and guest appearances by well-known movie characters.

“Films are an important part of our culture bringing in many different art forms together to tell incredible stories that impact us,” he said. “This movie night experience gives the community the opportunity to actively live these experiences like never before!”

Palacios said the buzz and energy around the department is at a fever pitch, and everyone is ready to present a really special event.

“The students and community members performing are excited to once again bring together several generations of wonderful film music that has pulled at our heartstrings, made us laugh out loud, and kept us on the edge of our seats,” he said. “Bring your friends and family for an evening you will never forget!”

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Palacios at palaciosl@bartonccc.edu or (620) 792-9396.
