The Great Bend Prairie aquifer provides water to approximately 130,000 people through public water systems and an additional 33,000 people from private wells.
Barton’s Director of Instrumental Activities Jamie Minneman participated in a once-in-a-lifetime experience last week by marching with the Saluting America's Band Directors (SABD) in the 97th Annual Macy’s Parade in New York City.
The Barton Community College Library will team up with the English department and Barton’s literary annual “Prairie Ink” staff to host a writing workshop from 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 30 in the Cavanaugh Room in the Barton Library.
Old West history expert Gary Kraisinger stopped by the Cohen Center for Kansas History in the Barton Community College Library in early October to research for an upcoming book he is working on with his wife Mary.
Barton Theatre’s Barton Bards troupe, in conjunction with the Great Bend Community Theatre will present a live, “old-fashioned” radio show presentation of “A Christmas Story,” by Jean Shepard at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Crest Theater, 1905 Lakin Ave., in Great Bend. Admission is free as a gift to the community.
