The Barton Community College Theatre Department will present an emotional yet uplifting musical, “Sing Sing Blues,” written by Barton Psychology Instructor Eric Smith, with multiple showings Feb. 20-23 with general admission tickets available for $10 at the door, and the production is suitable for ages 10 and up.

Barton Community College will host a blood drive from 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. Feb. 24 in the Kirkman Practice Gym. Donors will receive a $15 gift e-gift card from the American Red Cross to the merchant of their choice (to be mailed to the donor within 30 days of donation). 

Flute players and music enthusiasts will have the opportunity to listen and learn from one of the best flutists in the region as Kansas City flute player and musicologist Bryanna Beasley will present a masterclass at 3 p.m. in the Chapel in the Fine Arts Building, followed by a duet recital with Barton Guitar Instructor Aleia Gonzalez at 5 p.m. March 5 in the Dorothy Morrison Chapel in the Fine Arts Building.

Barton Community College’s Center for Adult Education is holding orientation days March 3-6 with multiple times available in preparation for its next nine-week session of high school diploma classes, which will start March 10 or 11, depending on which class sessions are signed up for.

When Great Bend High School student Trey Milsap was a youngster, he took a tour of the Great Bend Fire Station, which left him fascinated with the world of emergency response, and he is now working as a part-time firefighter for the Great Bend Fire and EMS Department all before graduating high school.

Barton Community College’s Dance Department invites all dance students aged 12-19 to be a college dance student for a day at the fourth annual “Barton Cougar Dance Day” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 21 in Studio 34 on the Barton Campus.
