Public invited to forums for Barton Vice President Candidates

Barton Community College has narrowed its pool of candidates for Vice President of Instruction and Student Services to three individuals.

Public forums will be held for each candidate on the Barton Fort Riley campus and a live stream will be available online for forums held on the Barton County campus.

Each candidate provided brief biographical information:

Dr. Harold W. Arnett
Director of Institutional Research
Highland Community College, Kansas

Dr. Arnett has an extensive and varied career in education. His resume includes award-winning teaching at both high school and university levels, and administrative work in both public schools and higher education. He has published numerous works, both academic and literary, and made over four thousand public addresses.  Dr. Arnett has delivered professional presentations in a variety of settings, from local workshops for teachers at all levels to international conferences. He has focused especially on effective teaching skills and addressing different learning styles. He currently serves as Director of Institutional Research at Highland Community College in Kansas.

Dr. Mary Ann Searle
Vice President for Enrollment & Student Affairs
Lake-Sumter State College, Florida

Dr. Mary Ann Searle has worked in higher education for 20+ years at small, public, 2-year colleges and small, private, 4-year universities. She has experience in Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, and Student Affairs. She is passionate about community colleges where we educate local citizens about the value of pursuing a college degree from an “access” and “affordability” viewpoint. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Marketing Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Master of Science in Adult Education & College Student Personnel Administration at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration at Indiana University-Bloomington.

Dr. Robin Garrett
Executive Director
Lone Star College, Texas

Dr. Garrett has been with Lone Star College since 2002 and is responsible for the system-wide continuing education operations of the six campus Lone Star College System including career and technical education programs and personal enrichment classes serving over 15,000 students each year. Robin serves on the Texas Workforce Education Leadership Committee and was the chair from 2010-2012, serving workforce education for the state. She is also on the steering committee for the state-wide program of study implementation project. Robin holds a Ph.D. from Nova Southeastern University’s Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences with a concentration in Technology in Education.
