Anyone looking to join a group of creative individuals as they “explore the world of art-making and creative endeavor” are encouraged to join the Shafer Art Gallery’s League of Aesthetic Engineers as it celebrates its “Inaugural Gala” from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 in the Shafer Gallery.

The exclusive kick-off wine and cheese event for members will feature performances by world renowned pianist Dr. Irena Ravitskaya and up-and-coming opera star Jessica Perez.  No one under 21 will be admitted.  Other activities will include an official commissioning ceremony for the league and a collaborative creative activity.

As the group’s brochure explains “This is not a club for armchair engineers only, this organization will provide opportunities for making, promoting and educating our community about the arts,” and promises to offer many insider benefits including free artwork, extraordinary workshops and enlightening programs, CIP members-only receptions and quality-time with visiting artists and judges.  It will provide members opportunities for service and yearly excursions to art venues.  Other perks include additional discounts on Shafer Gallery art purchases, free admission to educational programs, and up to and including private exhibition tours upon request.

There are different levels of membership.  There is a $50 single membership and a $75 couple’s membership in the “Clockmakers” division and a $100 single membership or $125 couple’s membership in the “Time Travelers” division.  All donation levels are annual.
