Story by Barton Communications
Barton Community College is proudly announcing the launch of the nation’s first Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in Federal Human Resources with a launch event from 2-4 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Riley Community Center 446 Seitz Dr., Fort Riley.
Community leaders and military families are invited to attend to learn more about the program’s goals, curriculum, and long-term impact on federal workforce development.
This pioneering program provides service members, veterans, and military spouses with a clear pathway to rewarding civilian careers in federal service. Graduates will be equipped to ensure fellow Americans, including those who have bravely served, a high paying wage and competitive benefits, such as retirement and healthcare.
Barton Vice President of Instruction Elaine Simmons said the College was thrilled when GKG approached them with this opportunity because it was clear that both Barton and GKG have an overwhelming interest in supporting military students and their families.
“We’re thrilled to be part of this groundbreaking initiative,” she said. “Supporting our military students is part of Barton’s DNA, and this program is another way we’re ensuring their continued success as they transition to civilian life.”
Vice President of Leadership and Development for GKG Donnielle DeMesme noted that while GKG has supported federal employees through workforce development initiatives for more than two decades, with the launch of this academic program, that commitment is now being formalized into a degree-granting pathway.
“This program is about opportunity,” she said. “It’s about helping service members and their families transition successfully while strengthening our federal workforce.”
RSVP is required by Oct. 21. For more information about the degree program or event, contact Barton Coordinator of Online Student and Faculty Services at (866) 455-2828 or metcalfc@bartonccc.edu, or visit landing.gobarton.com/federal-hr.
