Barton Community College artists do well at Russell exhibit

Artists at Barton Community College showcased their talents at the annual Russell Original Art Review Exhibition at the Russell 4-H Building.  The show ran through Oct. 18 and several Barton students received awards.

The show had 282 entries from 110 artists from 27 cities.  Barton art student and Director of Student Life Diane Engle took second place in the professional watercolor division with her painting “The Black Pearl,” student Karen Shaner took third in this division. Jay Miller took first place in the student photography professional division with his photo “Koi Pond,” and honorable mention was awarded to Karole Erikson for her photo “On the Way to the River.”

Student Joyce Barker took first in the amateur watercolor division with her piece “Abstract Triptych,” Deb Clothier took second with her piece “More Ducks & Birds” and Donna Holl took home honorable mention with her piece “Field of Sunflowers.”  Don Crouse took home second in amateur ceramics with his piece “Seaweed Wings.”
