The Barton Community College Library will team up with the English department and Barton’s literary annual “Prairie Ink” staff to host a Writers’ Workshop from 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 in the Cavanaugh Room of the Learning Resource Center and via Zoom at https://bartonccc-edu.zoom.us/my/brownj.
The Shafer Art Gallery at Barton Community College will host a free reception for its annual “Friends and Acquaintances” exhibition from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 11, celebrating the work of Kansas artists featured in the exhibition, which runs through Oct. 30.
Barton Community College Instructor of Keyboard Studies and Director of Accompaniment Dr. Alejandro Avila has officially taken on the role of president-elect of the Kansas Music Teachers Association (KMTA), a statewide leadership position that will lead to him becoming president of the organization in September 2027.
The Barton Dance Department will host auditions for its upcoming “Nutcracker for the Golden Belt” production from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 29 in Studio 34 on the Barton Campus.
Barton Community College’s Center for Adult Education is holding orientation days Sept. 14-17 with multiple times available in preparation for its next nine-week session of high school diploma classes, which will start Sept. 21 and 22, depending on which class sessions are signed up for.
The Barton Reading Challenge is back at the Barton Library for the 2026-27 year and is open to faculty, students, staff, their friends and family, and community members in Barton’s service area.
