The Barton Community College Board of Trustees will hold a special Board meeting at 4 p.m. Jan. 30. in the Fine Arts building, room F-30. The agenda includes the announcement and approval of Barton’s sixth president.
The Shafer Gallery will host an opening reception for its “Agrarian Spirit in the Homestead Era: Artwork from the Moseman Collection of Agrarian Art” exhibit from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 2 in the Gallery and will feature light refreshments and a talk by Shafer Gallery Director Alyssa Bliven.
Barton Community College’s Dance Department invites all dance students aged 12-19 to be a college dance student for a day at the third annual “Barton Cougar Dance Day” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 2 in Studio 34 on the Barton Campus.
Students interested in auditioning for vocal ensembles or instrumental ensembles and learning about scholarships opportunities in music for the 2024-2025 season are encouraged to sign up one of Barton’s “Music Scholarship Days” on Feb. 10 or March 2 at auditions.bartonccc.edu.

Barton will host its ninth annual Career Technical Education Fair for students grades 8-12 to learn about different career options on Friday, Feb. 2, and it will feature demonstrations, hands-on activities, refreshments, and prizes.
The overall weather and moisture conditions are mush different than last year. The moisture has made a great deal of difference in the wheat crop compared to the last several years.
Barton Dance Theatre’s popular “Dancing with the Cougars,” fundraiser classes have returned for the spring with a line dancing class from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Jan. 19 in Studio 34, and all proceeds go to support Barton Dance Theatre's trip to dance in New York City.
