Strategic planning at Barton County Community College is an ongoing effort to anticipate, predict and align future activities and provide a framework to advance the College’s vision, mission and goals. It must be clear to the entire organization where we are going, why we are going there, and how we will get there.

The College’s strategic planning starts with the Board of Trustee’s mission and vision, followed by an institutional environmental scan (SWOT - strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats). From this activity, the Management Council has identified College strategic initiatives for the next five years. This is followed by the college developing and resourcing annual plans relating to how the vision and initiatives will be implemented. The one-year plans will provide managers with an important tool to help determine the goals and objectives of individual staff members within their departments.
