Barton has 9 different player score goals in 9-0 win over Garden
The Barton Community College women’s soccer team rebounded from its only Jayhawk Conference loss to put a 9-0 blanking on visiting Garden City Wednesday afternoon at Cougar Fields. The Cougars had 9 different players score goals in the contest as Barton improved to 3-1 in Jayhawk and 8-3 overall this season. Garden City is now 1-3 in the Jayhawk and 3-3 overall. Barton will be on the road this weekend for a Jayhawk Conference tilt at Allen County.
Highlights
The contest was a slow starting one of the Cougars working with a brisk wind in the opening half. Barton did score a quick goal when Nataleigh Cliff scored on a corner kick from Yesenia Garcia just 6 minutes into the game. But the score stayed 1-0 through games’ opening 30 minutes.
Barton broke the game open with a flurry of goals late in the opening half, scoring 4 times in an 8 minute span. Flavia Bernardes, Whitney Smith, Garcia and Sarah Whiteside each scored from the 30th minute to the 37th minute as Barton took a 5-0 lead to half and coasted home.
Theresa Crane, Claudia Ramirez, Besty Dreiling, and Jamie Havran all added 2nd half goal as 9 different Cougars scored a goal in the contest. Garcia finished with 2 assists to go with her goal as she remains among the Top 10 scorers in the nation with 13 goals and 12 assists in 11 games.
Barton will travel to Iola to take on Allen County this weekend in a Saturday 2 pm contest.
