Barton rolls to 7-0 win over Cloud; sets school mark with 11th win of season

Cougars shutout 4th straight foe; Garcia gets school mark, Cougars break win mark
The Barton Community College women’s soccer team has been explosive offensively at times this year – and Saturday was no different – but the defense has been just as impressive. Barton recorded its 4th straight shutout and 7th of the season with a 7-0 win over Cloud County in Jayhawk Conference action at Cougar Fields in Great Bend. In the process, Great Bend sophomore Yesenia Garcia broke the school record for most goals in a career. The win was the 11th on the season for Barton, which is the most in school history. The win also keeps Barton (11-3) in the hunt for its 1st Jayhawk Conference title with a 6-1 record in the conference. The Cougars will need some help to win that title but can do itself some good Saturday when Johnson County (5-0 in the Jayhawk) visits Cougar Fields. Before that contest, Barton will travel to Oklahoma for a non conference game Wednesday.

Garcia ties school record; Harter breaks mark as Barton equals season-high win total
The Barton Community College women’s soccer team continued its record breaking season at Coffeyville Tuesday with a 3-0 blanking of the Red Ravens at Veterans Field. The win improved Barton to 10-3 on the season, equaling the most wins in a season for the Cougars achieved on a pair of occasions – most recently last year. In the process sophomore Yesenia Garcia scored her 36th career goal as a Cougar, matching the school record set by Elaine Fontes in 2005-06. Sophomore Goalkeeper Klarissa Harter posted her 10th career shutout to also set a Barton record. Barton is now 5-1 in the Jayhawk Conference. Barton will return home in an effort to break the school record for wins in a season when the Cougars host Cloud in Jayhawk action Saturday at 2 pm.

Cougars win 2nd straight 9-0 outing; with for 9th time this year
The Barton Community College women’s soccer team continues to score at a high pace, earning its 2nd straight 9-0 win in Jayhawk Conference play, this time over Allen County in Iola Saturday. This comes on the heels of a 9-0 win over Garden City Wednesday. The win pushed the Cougars to 9-3 for the year and 4-1 in the Jayhawk. The 9 wins are just 1 shy of a school record. The Cougars tied that record last year with 10 wins. Barton will get a chance to match that mark with a win at Coffeyville Tuesday.

Barton has 9 different player score goals in 9-0 win over Garden
The Barton Community College women’s soccer team rebounded from its only Jayhawk Conference loss to put a 9-0 blanking on visiting Garden City Wednesday afternoon at Cougar Fields. The Cougars had 9 different players score goals in the contest as Barton improved to 3-1 in Jayhawk and 8-3 overall this season. Garden City is now 1-3 in the Jayhawk and 3-3 overall. Barton will be on the road this weekend for a Jayhawk Conference tilt at Allen County.

Cougars lose heartbreaker to Hutch on goal in final minutes of contest
The Barton Community College women’s soccer team lost for the 1st time in Jayhawk Conference play this year in heartbreaking fashion, losing to No. 15 Hutchinson 1-0 in the game’s final minutes Thursday afternoon at Cougar Fields. The Cougars and Hutch were just 2 of 4 unbeatens in the Jayhawk heading into the contest. Earlier in the week, Barton won 8-1 at Hesston and now stands at 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the Jayhawk. Hutch in now 7-0 and 5-0. Barton will be back at home Wednesday to take on Garden City at 2 pm. The Broncbusters will bring a 3-2 overall mark and 1-2 in conference into the contest.

Barton makes it back-to-back double digit games with 11-1 win over Cowley
The Barton Community College women’s soccer team continued to score at an amazing pace, earning an 11-1 win over Cowley College Saturday in Jayhawk Conference play on the heels of a 14-0 win over Dodge City 3 days earlier. The contest was slated for Cougars Fields on the campus of Barton but due to heavy rains the previous day, the contest was moved to Memorial Stadium in Great Bend. The 11 goals scored against Cowley was the 3rd highest in school history to follow up a record-setting effort in the 14-0 win. Barton improved to 2-0 in the conference and 6-2 overall with the win. The Cougars will be at Hesston Tuesday in a 5:30 pm Region VI contest.

Barton sets school record with 14 goals; Garcia sets school mark for assists
The Barton Community College women’s soccer team put its name in the record book with a 14-0 win over Dodge City Wednesday afternoon at Cougar Fields in the Jayhawk Conference opener for the Cougars. Barton scored 7 goals in each half for the 14-0 win, eclipsing the mark of 12 goals set in 2005 against Coffeyville. In the process, Great Bend sophomore Yesenia Garcia set a school mark by recording 5 assists in the contest. The win improves the Cougars to 5-2 on the season and gets them off to a 1-0 start in Jayhawk play. Barton will be back at home for another Jayhawk contest Saturday when Cowley College visits at 2 pm.

Cougars split road games at Laramie, Blue River
The Barton Community College women’s soccer team split games over an extended weekend for them, losing at No. 11 Laramie County (Wyom) Saturday before scoring a win at Blue River (Mo) Monday. The split of road games give Barton a 4-2 record this season. The Cougars will start Jayahwk Conference action Wednesday when Barton hosts Dodge City in a 2 pm start at Cougar Fields.

Barton wins 3 straight in Texas; moves to 3-1 on season
The Barton Community College women’s soccer team had to wait nearly a week to resume play after a tough 3-1 loss to start the season, but the Cougars got the sour taste out of their mouths in a hurry, sweeping all 3 games they played this past weekend in Texas. Barton won 2 games at the Cedar Valley Classic in Lancaster Texas then took a road win over Mountain View to end the Texas trip. Barton is now 3-1 on the season and will be back on the road for 2 more games before finally returning home Sept. 10 to start Jayhawk Conference play by hosting Dodge City.

Barton falls in opener; plays 3 in Texas this weekend
The Barton Community College women’s soccer team lost its season opener to Western Nebraska Saturday at Cougar Fields. The contest, a 3-1 loss, was to be the 1st of 2 games over the weekend but Sunday’s scheduled game with Maple Woods (Mo) was cancelled due to the heavy rainfall. Barton will be on the road for 3 games in Texas this weekend. The Cougars will play two at the Cedar Valley Classic then play at Mountain View College before returning home.
