Notes
Arkansas Fort Smith is in the process of becoming a 4-year school to play at the NCAA Division II level. Next season will be the final season for the Lions in the junior college ranks. The school has been a national contender in several sports as WestArk then Fort Smith.....The women's basketball team won a National title in 1995, finishing as the runner-up in 1994. Fort Smith took 3rd in 2005 and 4th in 2004. This is the 7th appearance for Fort Smith at the tournament.....The Lions had a 21-game winning streak snapped in the semifinals. Fort Smith led much of that game in a very entertaining semifinal matchup..... A win would give Barton its highest finish ever at the NJCAA National Tournament as well as the school record for most wins in a season at 35.....Barton has won 18 straight before a semifinal loss to top seed Central Arizona. Barton gave up a season-high 78 points in that loss.....The game will the last at Barton for sophomores Jessica Halsig, Ipek Turkyilmaz and Inga Muciniece. Turkyilmaz and Muciniece will leave Barton with several individual records.....The Cougars are just 10 3-pointers shy of reaching 300 for the season. But Barton has struggled the past 4 games on 3-pointers, hitting just 18-for-69 for 28%. On the season Barton shots 36% on 3's.
