Cougars earn Jayhawk West win at Garden City
The Barton Community College volleyball team picked up its 1st Jayhawk West win of the season with a 3 game sweep of Garden City on the road Wednesday night. The Cougars won 25-13, 25-18, 25-18 to improve to 1-3 in the West as they try to turn the momentum. Barton is now 9-10 overall this season. Garden City falls to 1-3 in the West and 6-13 overall. The Cougars will have the weekend off then return to action Wednesday at the Barton Gym for a battle with West foe Seward. Seward is 3-1 in the West and 18-5 overall.

Highlights
The Cougars played their best volleyball of the West season in the win over the Broncbusters. Barton held Garden under 20 points in each of the 3 games of the match and it is the 1st 3-0 sweep for the Cougars this year.

Barton was led in hitting by Amber Hockman with 14 kills in 22 attempts with just 4 errors. Linsday Schinstock added 8 kills in 17 attempts with just 3 errors. As a team Barton hit a season-high .377 during the win. The Cougars recorded 8 aces – matching a team high – led by Sammy Grollmes with 4 and Mengya Wang with 3. Grollmes added 8 digs. Lacey Macek led Barton with 6 blocks followed by Cenquis Rockett with 5. Wang recorded 25 assists in the win.

The Cougars will battle West rival Seward Wednesday as Barton attempts to string together back-to-back Jayhawk West wins.
