Cougars lose to No. 17 Hutchinson in Jayhawk West play
The Barton Community College volleyball team wasn’t able to pull off the upset Wednesday night at the Barton Gym, falling in Jayhawk West play to ranked Hutchinson. Barton lost in 3 games to Hutchinson, 25-20, 25-17, 25-20. The Cougars are now 1-5 in the West and 9-16 overall while Hutchinson stays perfect in the West with a 6-0 mark and a 14-11 overall record. Barton will back at home Saturday for a noon start time with Garden City in West play. Barton won at Garden earlier this year. The Broncbusters are 1-5 in the West and 6-16 overall.
Cougars battle through tough competition at Hutchinson Invite
The Barton Community College volleyball team faced 3 ranked teams this past weekend at the Bank of American Invite in Hutchinson at the Sports Arena. Barton lost those 3 matches as well as a 5-game battle with Seminole State (Okla) to end the weekend with an 0-4 record. Barton is now 9-15 overall. Barton will step back into Jayhawk West play this week when Hutchinson visits the Barton Gym Wednesday. Hutchinson is ranked No. 17 in the NJCAA with a 13-11 record.
Barton drops 5-game match to Seward in Jayhawk West play
The Barton Community College volleyball team nearly recorded back-to-back Jayhawk West wins but came up short to previously ranked Seward County in a 5-game thriller at the Barton Gym Wednesday night. Barton had a 2-1 lead in games in the contest but couldn’t finish off the Saints as Barton fell to 1-4 in the West and 9-11 overall. Seward is now 4-1 in the West and 25-6 overall. Barton will travel to Hutchinson this weekend for the Bank of America Invite where Barton will take on 3 ranked teams.
Cougars earn Jayhawk West win at Garden City
The Barton Community College volleyball team picked up its 1st Jayhawk West win of the season with a 3 game sweep of Garden City on the road Wednesday night. The Cougars won 25-13, 25-18, 25-18 to improve to 1-3 in the West as they try to turn the momentum. Barton is now 9-10 overall this season. Garden City falls to 1-3 in the West and 6-13 overall. The Cougars will have the weekend off then return to action Wednesday at the Barton Gym for a battle with West foe Seward. Seward is 3-1 in the West and 18-5 overall.
Barton loses to ranked Butler in volleyball
The Barton Community College volleyball team dropped a home contest Monday at the Barton Gym, falling to the No. 3 team in NJCAA Division II. Barton lost to Butler 25-20, 25-12, 25-19, falling to 8-10 overall this year while Butler improves to 18-2. What is usually a Jayhawk West battle wasn’t this time around as the volleyball conference are aligned with the school’s division. All the Division I schools are in the West and the Division II schools in the East. Volleyball is the only sport this alignment will be used for. The Cougars will be back in West action Wednesday when they travel to Garden City to take on the Broncbusters at 6:30 pm.
Rasmussen to take over Barton volleyball
Barton Community College Athletic Director Kurt Kohler has announced that Andrea Rasmussen will take over the Barton volleyball program as the 2008 season sets to begin this weekend in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Kohler was to be both volleyball coach and athletic director but will serve only as the athletic director at the school. Rasmussen was to be the assistant coach this year but has been promoted to Interim Head Coach for the season. |
