Barton golf starts season with pair of Jayhawk Tournaments
The Barton County Community College men’s golf team has started its season off with a pair of Jayhawk Conference Tournaments at Heritage Hills in McCook, Neb and Sand Creek Station in Newton. The Cougars finished 4th at Heritage Hills and 6th at Sand Creek Station.

Heritage Hills
Lynn Rowland placed 4th in the tournament at Heritage Hills, shooting a 9-over 225 during the 3 rounds. Rowland shot a 75 in the 1st round, followed with a 76 then ended the tournament ith a 74. He tied for 4th with Nate Sargent of Johnson. Rowland was the only Top 10 finisher for the Cougars, who shot a 949 as a team for 4th. Johnson County won the 10-team event at 899 with Hutchinson (912) 2nd and Dodge City (926) 3rd.

Nathan Linn was the next Cougar on the leaderboard, shooting a 235, 4 strokes from the Top 10 in 14th. Tyler Halagin was 25th with a 245, followed by Chris Mann in 27th (249) and Ben Eastes in 35th (257).

Sand Creek Station
The 2nd tournament was at a brand new course in Sand Creek Station at Newton. The Cougars fired a 622 during the 18-hole tournament for 6th, just 5 strokes from 5th. Hutchinson won the event at 586, followed by Dodge (596) and Johnson (600).

Rowland again had a Top 10 effort, taking 10th in the field with an 8-over par 150. Tommy Zuzelski of Dodge won with a 141, 1-under par. Chris Mann just missed the Top 10, placing in a tie for 12th at 152.
