Barton 5th at Quail Ridge in Jayhawk Conference No. 3
The Barton County Community College men’s golf team tied for 5th at the 3rd Conference event this season at Quail Ridge Country Club in Winfield recently. The Cougars shot a 619, tied with Coffeyville for 5th. Baron was just 3 strokes out of 3rd place, shot by Dodge City at 615. Hutchinson won the event with a 592. The tournament ended the Fall portion of the Jayhawk Golf schedule. Barton still has a date at Dub’s Dread in non conference play before winding up its Fall portion of the slate.
Highlights
Lynn Rowland placed took 3rd at Quail Ridge, shooting a 77 and 72 for a 5-over Par 149. Mike Elafros of Johnson County won the event with an even par 144. Rowland has been a regular in the Top 10 and sits in 3rd place overall in the Jayhawk after the 1st 3 events. Rowland had 14.5 points in the standings. Branson Real of Hutch is 1st with 21 while Elafros is 2nd with 18.
Tyler Halagin was 2nd for the Cougars, shooting a 157 in 25th place. He was followed closely by Nathan Linn and Ben Eastes with a 158. Chris Mann shot a 160 to round out the Barton team.
