Barton
County Community College Athletic Program Mission
The
athletic program is an integral part of the educational program
of the College and improves the lives of students through their
participation as athletes and as spectators. Athletics provides
unique educational opportunities to develop student physical, social,
and academic skills. Students learn the values of teamwork,
discipline, commitment, and sportsmanship.
In
addition, athletics strengthens the campus community as well as
the larger community served by the College by providing a positive,
shared and unifying experience.
The
primary goals of the
athletic program are to:
- Assist
student athletes in securing a college education
- Build
traditional age campus enrollment in a relatively cost effective
manner
- Provide
students to support core freshman and sophomore courses
- Provide
students to support cost effective housing and foodservice
- Provide
students to support a wide variety of student services
- Provide
an opportunity for some Kansas students to continue their athletic
interests
- Help
develop a more diverse student body by attracting student athletes
from out of state and foreign countries.
- Create
a source of pride and unity for the campus and community
- Provide
quality entertainment for the campus and community
- Be
competitive within the Jayhawk Conference by winning more than
losing
Measures
