Physical Education Instructor (Coaching/Recreation)
Liberal Arts and Sciences
Physical Education (Coaching): Students who complete degree requirements in Teacher Education can obtain certification to teach elementary, junior high/middle school, and high school physical education. Many physical education majors also complete a program leading to secondary coaching. Non-physical education majors can often complete requirements for an endorsement to coach.
Recreation: Students who complete the degree requirements for Recreation are qualified to pursue a career in leisure services and general recreation fields (supervisors and directors). Employment opportunities are available in state and federal agencies, institutions serving special populations, college recreational services, youth-serving agencies; and commercial, outdoor, military, church, industrial and municipal recreation and park agencies.
Significant differences often occur between the curriculums offered among specific 4-year institutions. You need to select a transfer college or university as soon as possible once choosing to major in Physical Education / Recreation.
