Education
The Education curriculum is designed to provide the first two-years of the state-prescribed professional education courses and related general education courses that will lead to the bachelor's degree with state certification for teaching.

Elementary Education
The major in Elementary Education prepares you to teach in elementary, middle and junior high school. You should choose an area of concentration consisting of 12-18 hours in a specific area of study. You should consult with your advisor to choose your area of concentration and the appropriate courses.

You should consult the catalog of the college or university you plan to attend for specific requirements. Your advisor will help you plan courses that will meet the specific requirements for your transfer school.

You should have a 2.75 GPA and a minimum of 50 college credit hours upon entering the teacher education program at a four-year institution. You may be required to take the Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) or another entrance examination.

These requirements are necessary in order for you to be formally admitted to most teacher education programs.
