Debate/Forensics Program

In fall 2006 Barton will start a new Debate/Forensic Program. Students who participate in Debate/Forensic programs acquire valuable skills in critical and analytic thinking, oral and written communication, research, computer literacy, and conflict resolution. These skills, along with the stylistic, persuasive, and argument construction skills, empower students to more fully participate with others in shaping their world. They acquire the skills that are prized and rewarded in courts, classrooms, civic gatherings and other public forums. The new program will provide students with coursework in Oral Interpretation or Argumentation & Advocacy along with performance credits in both Debate and Forensics.
