The Office Technology program at Barton allows you to grow personally as well as professionally. The courses in the program are designed so that specific skills can be mastered in areas such as transcription, desktop publishing, and records management. Through a series of computer and business courses, students acquire a professional attitude that can be communicated to a potential employer.
In the Office Technology program, you enroll in a number of courses that make you marketable to potential employers. The curriculum consists of 15 credit hours of general education courses. Because the degree is not designed for transfer, you can take Business English and Business Math that allow you to apply skills learned in those classes to your other classes and in your career.
The Office Technology program can be customized to fit your needs. For students that lack basic computer skills, we have courses designed to build those skills for you. We can also accommodate those with hectic schedules by allowing you to do the majority of the homework from the comfort of your own home. If you are working while taking course in the Office Technology program, you could be eligible to enroll in a coordinated training program and receive college credit hours while working for an employer.
The Office Technology program has an active advisory board that consists of past students of the program, members of the community from medical, legal, and banking organizations. The faculty in the program communicate frequently with these individuals to identify several issues such as (1) what the employers expect of their employees, (2) what enhancements are occurring in their field, and (3) how the college could assist them with training for their current employees. This communication is important as it affords faculty the opportunity to keep the Office Technology program current and update the curriculum in the classroom when needed.
While in the Office Technology program, you can utilize the skills that you have gained from the program right away. Barton’s faculty, have a sincere interest in you as an individual, and your advisor can customize a schedule to fit your lifestyle and meet your goals.
Join the Office Technology program today and see the professional difference you can make in yourself!
