Barton County Community College was formed July 15, 1965, through an election by the people of Barton County, Kansas. The College was created to provide students in Barton County an opportunity to obtain an education at a low cost within commuting distance.
Barton County Community Junior College sketch and model of the campus were viewed in September by Jack Williams, left, Dr. Otis Robinson, center, and Joe Mermis Jr. Williams of the architectural firm of Rondeau, Williams and Smith unveiled the plans to the college president and chairman of the trustees along with other trustees. Bonds for construction of the buildings will be sold on Feb. 1.
