Remote Access to Barton Library Resources

Terminal Server

Using the library’s terminal server gives access to all of the library’s subscription databases with no logins, passwords or URL addresses required. Using Terminal Server will, in effect, “teleport” you to a library computer. There is, however, no print capability — you must email* information/articles/etc. to yourself.

How do I access terminal server?

1. Click “Start”>“Run”>type in: mstsc

2. In the address box, type in: libr2.bartonccc.edu and click “Connect”

3. Type in a user name. Contact the library for one of these.

4. Type in the password. Contact the library for one of these.

5. Log on to MTRM6 by choosing it from the drop-down list.

You must log out of terminal server, rather than exiting, when you are finished. If not, any open windows in terminal server will be viewable to others, including any personal ones you left open.

*Most of the databases have an email option on the article’s window. JStor and ProjectMuse do not. You can, however, download the document to the terminal server desktop (note this is not your own computer’s desktop) and then email it to yourself as an attachment.

Password Access

A few of our databases provide password access through their web site. These are:

Grove Art

Grove Music

Wilson Web

Kansas Library Card

Many of our databases are also available through a service called the Kansas Library card. This card is free from any Kansas library. You will need to have proof of Kansas residency with you when you go get the card. The database available with a library card are:

InfoTrac (Includes several general databases as well as topic specific databases on business, computer, legal, health, and military topics))

ProQuest (nursing)

Informe! (Revistas en Español)

Literature Resource Center

WorldBook Encyclopdia

NetLibrary (eBooks on general and academic subject area topics)
