CCSSE Spring 2006
The Community College Survey of Student Engagement was administered on the Barton County Campus, the Fort Riley Campus and at several Outreach sites in Spring 2006.

Students completed a survey and the results were compiled by the University of Texas at Austin. The data were combined with data from other community colleges across the nation. The students were asked a variety of questions that were grouped to look at 5 benchmark areas: Active and Collaborative Learning, Student Effort, Academic Challenge, Student-Faculty Interaction, and Support for Learners. Beginning in 2006, CCSSE used a three-year cohort of participating colleges (2004-2006) in all of its data analysis, including the computation of benchmark scores.

Barton results (N = 472 students) were compared to:

  • All CCSSE Community Colleges (N = 444 community colleges, 249, 548 students nationally)
  • "Small" CCSSE Community Colleges (N = 244 community colleges, 92, 845 students nationally)
  • "Rural" CCSSE Community Colleges (N = 207 community colleges, 87, 221 students nationally)

CCSSE Community Colleges in Kansas:

  • Barton ("small")
  • Butler ("medium")
  • Hutchinson ("medium")
  • Johnson ("extra large")
  • Kansas City ("medium")
