Dear Prospective Nursing Student,
Thank you for your interest in Barton County Community College and in the nursing program. Barton offers a nursing program which includes a Practical Nursing Certificate and an Associate Degree in Nursing. Acceptance into the nursing program is based on an application and selection process.
Pre-requisite courses required for admission into the nursing program:
| Anatomy & Physiology (taken within last 5 yrs) | 5 credit hours |
| General Psychology | 3 credit hours |
| Developmental Psychology | 3 credit hours |
| Computer Concepts and Applications | 3 credit hours |
| Medical Terminology | 3 credit hours |
General Education Courses required for Second Year (may be taken during the 2 nd yr or prior to entering the program):
| Microbiology | 5 credit hours |
| English Composition I | 3 credit hours |
| Sociology | 3 credit hours |
*A Certified Nursing Aide certificate is required to be accepted into the nursing program.*
Applications to the nursing program are evaluated on the following:
1. Completed application
2. College GPA
3. GPA of pre-requisite courses
4. A copy of CNA certificate (PN applicants only)
5. Entrance test score -TEAS Test from ATI (PN applicants only)
6. A copy of LPN license (RN applicants only)
