Prospective Nursing Student


Dear Prospective Nursing Student,

Thank you for your interest in Barton County Community College and in the nursing program. Barton offers a nursing program which includes a Practical Nursing Certificate and an Associate Degree in Nursing. Acceptance into the nursing program is based on an application and selection process.

Pre-requisite courses required for admission into the nursing program:

Anatomy & Physiology (taken within last 5 yrs) 5 credit hours
General Psychology 3 credit hours
Developmental Psychology 3 credit hours
Computer Concepts and Applications 3 credit hours
Medical Terminology 3 credit hours


General Education Courses required for Second Year (may be taken during the 2 nd yr or prior to entering the program):

Microbiology 5 credit hours
English Composition I 3 credit hours
Sociology 3 credit hours

 

*A Certified Nursing Aide certificate is required to be accepted into the nursing program.*


Applications to the nursing program are evaluated on the following:
1. Completed application
2. College GPA
3. GPA of pre-requisite courses
4. A copy of CNA certificate (PN applicants only)
5. Entrance test score -TEAS Test from ATI (PN applicants only)
6. A copy of LPN license (RN applicants only)
