"I love what I do,” says Bill Forst. “My life is saturated with art. I have a job that immerses me in art every day, and I have a great ceramic studio. Helping students succeed is a rewarding challenge which makes my time in the classroom and studio pass by in a daily blur which is often punctuated with, AH HA! moments. Moments when a questioning looks turns into one of understanding as an explanation or demonstration of a concept leads a student to a deeper understanding of the materials and techniques used in our studios.”

When asked about his educational philosophy Steve said, "I am an energetic, conscientious, and interested teacher. I believe in searching for new methods and experiences in order to give the student an up to date view of the art world. My goal is to challenge and inspire my students to learn the information and techniques that will help them to be successful. I am constantly looking for new ways of instructing the basic technical information that must be learned, and at the same time stay flexible enough to work with a variety of different types of learners. I also feel that it is the responsibility of the instructor, in whatever classroom situation he is involved with, to aid the student in achieving a greater objective awareness, development of subjective freedom and a formulation of a visual language."
