Opportunities for Hispanic Students


There are many financial aid opportunities available for Hispanic students. Here are some sources to check out.

Federal Financial Aid:
Federal grants, loans, and work opportunities are available for citizens and registered aliens. Students may complete an application at: www.fafsa.gov.

State of Kansas:
The Kansas Ethnic Minority Scholarship is available for African American, American Indian or Alaskan Native; Asian or Pacific Islander; or Hispanic students. 

Barton County Community College:
• La Oportunidad Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to students who are not eligible for a Pell grant and first priority is given to students of Hispanic descent. Applications are mailed to enrolled students who meet the criteria.
• Academic Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to students based upon their high school GPA, ACT, or GED score whichever will result in the highest scholarship amount.
• Boost Scholarship - This scholarship is for high school students who are on free or reduced lunches.
• Incentive Scholarship - This is a need-based scholarship for students who are not receiving any other type of aid.

Organizations:
• USA Funds - The 2Futuro program was developed primarily to help Hispanic families connect with Hispanic financial aid and educational organizations. The website is: http://www.2futuro.com.
