Early Alert Process
To provide the most help to students receiving an Early Alert, the following process will take place each time an Alert is received.
- Early Alert information will be entered in a record keeping spreadsheet.
- Course rosters will be checked to make sure that the student is enrolled.
- Early Alert notification letter will be sent to student.
- Copy of letter will be sent to the student's advisor and coach (if athlete).
- Every Friday, Athletic Director, Angie Maddy, and Carol Dellinger will receive a copy of the spreadsheet used for recording Early Alerts. Students who receive an Alert notice for missing work or low grades will receive a brief note from the tutoring staff asking them to come in for assistance at their instructors request.
- Each week until the Low Grade Report is published, the Tutoring staff will provide Melissa with the tutoring tog to see whether or not students sited for Early Alert came in for tutoring. This information will be recorded on the spreadsheet.
- Students who display behavior that should be addressed by the school counselor will be forwarded to Carol Dellinger for follow up. This information will also be recorded on the spreadsheet.
After the low-grade report is published, the instructor and advisor for each student that received an Early Alert notice will be provided with follow up information on their student. This information will include whether or not the student came in for tutoring, advising, counseling, etc.
