Degree Options in EMS
Both degree options allow the student to pursue a four year degree through Barton’s 2+2 programs.
- Paramedic degree option focuses on training the student to become a competent, entry-level pre-hospital care provider at the Advanced Life Support (ALS) level
- EMS Administration degree provides training and education as it relates to the administrative side of EMS. Those completing the EMS Administration degree will have the basic knowledge necessary to
function as an EMS administrator
- Certificate in EMT-Basic
In addition to degree options, the ESE department offers continuing
education courses such as ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, and AMLS.
Occupational Outlook for Careers in EMS
- Employment of Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics is expected to grow faster than the national average through 2014
- Upon completion of the program and receipt of certification, Paramedic students can pursue employment as an entry level Paramedic with EMS or Fire agencies as well as with private industry; college and professional sports teams; and hospitals
- EMS Administration degree allows students to pursue employment as an entry-level EMS administrator
