Barton Community College’s Child Education Fair is an all-day event starting with registration at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28 in the Student Union. This learning event is developed for childcare center and preschool personnel, family daycare providers, elementary teachers and students enrolled in a childcare curriculum.

The fair will host several activities including a keynote speech by the owner of Make a Difference Training and Consultation Beth Reeder, breakout sessions covering a variety of childcare and education topics, and a closing certificate presentation ceremony.

Reeder’s keynote speech entitled “The Best Exercise Is…,” will discuss the benefits of incorporating physical activity into daily education practices and exercises for children.

In addition, vendors will display a variety of products and services during the fair. There will also be a Blue Ribbon Cookie Contest in which attendees can bring a plate of homemade cookies for a chance at prizes.

Registration fee for participants is $69. Deadline for pre-registration is April 13. The fee includes one-half hour of college credit, materials, lunch and refreshments. Participants will also earn 7.5 contact hours in continuing education.

Child Care Connection is offering six scholarships in the amount of $69 each to cover registration fees for the 2012 Child Education Fair. Anyone who would like to apply must complete the application form by April 6.

Exhibitor space is also still available. For more information on being an exhibitor, scholarship applications, or brochures contact Workforce Training and Economic Development Coordinator Krystall Barnes at or (620) 792-9332.
