Shafer Gallery Presents Barton County High School Artists in Juried Exhibition

Barton Community College’s Shafer Gallery will host the Barton County High School Juried Art Exhibition March 6-27. The student artists will be recognized for their work at a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at the gallery.

The exhibit will include paintings, drawings, ceramics, sculpture and fiber art by the Barton County high school students. Award recipients in each category will be announced during the opening reception. Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place, and honorable mention.

The high school artists are the students of Carol Selle and Liz Bowman, Great Bend; Greg Maxwell, Ellinwood; Christina Lamoureaux, Hoisington; and Jennifer Berg, Claflin.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Group tours and evening showings are available by appointment. The gallery will be closed March 21-25 for the college’s Spring Break, but the gallery will re-open on Sunday, March 27, to offer a final day to see the high school exhibit.

All Shafer Gallery exhibits are presented in part by the Kansas Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
