Barton Community College Names Classroom to Honor Lois Alban

Lois Alban, who for many years has given generously to Barton Community College, traveled 1,000 miles to attend the Renovation Celebration Aug. 12 showcasing the College’s renovations involving three buildings on its campus. Now living in Mission, Texas, she continues giving to the College.

Petr Grigor’ev, a student at Barton Community College, has had his watercolor painting accepted for the National Watercolor Society’s 90th Annual Open Exhibition, which begins Oct. 30 and continues through Dec. 11 at the NWS headquarters in San Pedro, Calif.

Barton Compresses Hybrid Macro and Microeconomics Courses into One Semester

August 5, 2010
Barton Community College will offer hybrid compressed courses in Principles of Macroeconomics and Principles of Microeconomics this fall, delivered in the classroom through lecture and supplemented by online components. The compressed hybrid courses will make it possible to complete both courses for a total of six credit hours in one semester rather than taking them in two separate semesters.

Barton Foundation’s Big Benefit Auction Takes on Ambience of Wine Country

Like good wine, the Barton Community College Foundation’s Big Benefit Auction just keeps getting better with age. In 32 years, many people have put in a lot of effort to make that happen, said Darnell Holopirek, Barton’s Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, as the Foundation prepares for this year’s event with the theme, “A Night in Napa.” The auction is the Foundation’s main fund-raiser for academic scholarships and program enhancements.
