Barton Community College will offer two early childhood education courses in partnership with North Central Kansas Technical College in the spring 2011 semester.
Creative Activities II will teach students how to develop and create lessons and projects for children ranging in age from birth to 3 years. Classes are scheduled from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 11 through March 8, on the NCKTC Hays campus, 2205 Wheatland Ave., Hays. Class activities will include constructing learning games, art media, flannel boards, puppets and related materials chosen around children’s interests and abilities. Instructor is Shara Neidenthal.
Child Play and Games will be offered from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 10 through May 12, on the NCKTC Hays Campus. Students will learn the importance and development of play, learning attitudes and environments. They will learn the importance of movement in relation to what children learn, and that play environments should encourage children to explore, imagine, invent, and express feelings. Projects will include parachutes, music, art, bean bags, stories, songs and nursery rhymes. Instructor is Kris Schulte.
Both of these courses are for three credit hours. Students may qualify for Federal Financial Aid and/or other scholarships and tuition assistance.
