Barton Community College Honors Homecoming Royalty

Barton Community College sophomore Alisha Fanshier and freshman Storm Sanders were named Queen and King of Barton’s 2011 Basketball Homecoming on Feb. 5. They were crowned during the intermission between the women’s and men’s basketball games against Seward County.

Fanshier, St. John, is a graduate of St. John High School. At Barton, she is a member of the women’s basketball team and is a biology major. She plans to continue her education and her basketball career at a four-year university. She is the daughter of Roger and Gayle Fanshier.

Sanders, Canton, Ohio, is a graduate of Glenoak High School. At Barton, he participates on the men’s basketball team and is a graphic design major planning to continue his education at a four-year university. He is the son of Katrecia Sanders and Craig McCoy.

Crowning the King and Queen were Barton’s 2010 homecoming king and queen, Jared Marcuson, Oberlin, and Morgan Cooper, Wichita.

The following Barton students were honored as homecoming finalists:

Natasha Homeier, Russell, is a graduate of Russell High School. A sophomore at Barton, she is a dance major and a member of Barton’s dance team. She plans to attend Wichita State University to complete her degree. She is the daughter of Sherry and William Homeier.

Corey LaMoureaux, Westminster, Colo., is a graduate of Standley Lake High School in Westminster. A Barton sophomore, she is a member of the women’s soccer team and is a Student Ambassador. She is an engineering major and plans to continue her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and continue playing soccer. She is the daughter of Susanne and Kenneth Lamoureaux.

David Major, East Grinstead, England, is a graduate of Imberhorne High School. A freshman at Barton, he is a business major and a member of the men’s soccer team. He plans to continue his education at a Division 1 university to play soccer. He is the son of Tracy Major and Phil Major.

Kelsey McGuire, Ottumwa, Iowa, is a graduate of Ottumwa High School. A Barton sophomore, she is a member of the cheer team and Barton Dance Theatre. She is an elementary education major and plans to continue her education and cheerleading at Wichita State University. She is the daughter of Mike and Theresa McGuire.

Colin Beatty, Lanham, Md., is a graduate of DuVal High School. A sophomore at Barton, he is a member of the men’s basketball team. He is a business major and plans to attend Loyola University of Chicago. He is the son of Debra and Calvin Beatty.

Matthew Engstrom, Hoisington, is a graduate of Hoisington High School. A Barton sophomore, he is a member of the cheer team and participates in Student Support Services. He is a secondary education major and plans to finish his education and cheer at Sam Houston University. He is the son of Belinda Engstrom, Hoisington, and Dan Engstrom, Great Bend.

Jordan Gallacher, Murray, Utah, is a graduate of Murray High School. A Barton sophomore, she is a member of the women’s soccer team and is a writer for the student newspaper, the Interrobang. She is a biology composite teaching major and plans to continue her education at Weber State University in Ogden, Vt.

Adam Young, Portland, Ore., is a graduate of Centennial High School in Las Vegas, Nev. A sophomore at Barton, he participates in men’s basketball. He plans to play basketball at a four-year university. He is the son of Terry Young, Canada.
