Kinsley High School student Michael Kennedy and Barton Community College graduating sophomore Josiah Daniels, Sedgwick, are the first-place winners on their respective levels in the Technical Arts Juried Exhibition open now and continuing through Friday, May 14, in Barton’s Shafer Gallery.
Conducted for its third year at the College, the Technical Arts Juried Exhibition features video, animation, graphic design, photography and illustrations by students in two divisions: high school and college. Barton’s graphic arts instructor Dana Allison coordinates the exhibit, working with Shafer Gallery Director Megan Benitz.
The complete list of students who placed in the exhibit includes:
High School Division: first, Michael Kennedy, Kinsley High School, “Go Green,” computer graphic; second, Katie Ney, Great Bend High School, “Senior Swim,” graphics; third, Stephany Aguirre, GBHS, “Pink Lady Bug,” altered photo; honorable mention, Natasha Zamarripa, GBHS, “Kissing Coffins Library,” graphics.
College Division: first, Josiah Daniels, Sedgwick, “Purple n’ Pink,” digitally enhanced photo; second, Petr Grigor’ev, Vladivostok, Russia, “Light,” digitally enhanced photo; third, Jeremy McNeal, Natoma, “Clouds of Fire and Ice,” computer graphic; honorable mention, Bill McKown, Great Bend, “Bringing Home the Gold,” digitally enhanced photo; honorable mention, Michael Mauney, Pawnee Rock, “Two Live in Larned,” video.
All Shafer Gallery exhibits are presented in part by the Kansas Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
