Barton Community College has announced recipients of the Barton Community College Employee Development Fund Scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year. These endowed scholarships are given by the Barton Community College Foundation.

The following Barton students are recipients of the Employee Development Fund Scholarships:

Albert

Kelly Storm, a 2009 graduate of Great Bend High School, is a freshman planning to major in radiology tech. Her scholarship is a $1,000 excellence award. In high school, she was active in basketball, softball, track, volleyball, Kayettes, Spanish Club and Drama Club. She was named to the All A Honor Roll all four years of high school and she earned membership in the National Honor Society. She lettered in softball and basketball. She is the daughter of Paula and Steve Storm and Jeannette Storm.

Ellinwood

Scott Stickney, a 2009 graduate of Ellinwood High School, is a freshman at Barton majoring in agriculture. His scholarship is an $800 honor award. In high school, he was active in FFA and golf. He also was a Junior Rotarian. He is the son of Leroy and Debra Stickney.

Nicole Hildebrand, a 2007 graduate of Ellinwood High School, is a sophomore psychology major. Her scholarship is a $1,000 excellence award. In high school, she was active in International Club and served as track, volleyball and basketball manager. She was named to the honor roll in her senior year and lettered in all three sports that she managed. She has maintained a 3.5 grade point average since beginning her freshman year at Barton. She is the daughter of LaRena and Greg Hildebrand.

Great Bend

Jordan Batman, a 2009 graduate of Great Bend High School, is a freshman at Barton planning to major in physical therapy. His scholarship is a $1,000 excellence award. In high school, he was active in football, wrestling, track, A Cappella Choir, Madrigal Pops Singers, FFA, Pep Club and Kansas Association for Youth. He was named to the honor roll and “Who’s Who Among American High School Students.” He is the son of Eric and Kerri Batman.

E.J. Hiss, a 2009 graduate of Great Bend High School, is a freshman at Barton planning to major in golf course management. His scholarship is a $1,000 excellence award. In high school, he was active in golf, band, Kansas Association for Youth and Distributive Education Clubs of America. He lettered in golf, band and debate/forensics and was named to the honor roll. He is the son of Jim and Melinda Hiss.

Ashley Kuhn, a 2009 graduate of GBHS, is a freshman at Barton planning to major in radiology. Her scholarship is a $1,000 excellence award. In high school, she was active in softball and the Freshman Mentoring Program. She was named to the honor roll and lettered in softball for three years. She is the daughter of Eric and Christy Kuhn.

St. John

Lyle Jones, Seward, a 2008 graduate of St. John High School, is a sophomore theatre major. His scholarship is a $1,000 honor award. In high school, he was active in Scholars Bowl, choir, band, Kansas Association for Youth, Student Council and Students Against Driving Drunk. At Barton, he is active in Hilltop Singers and forensics. He is the son of Mitch and Angie Jones.
