Barton Community College opened its doors to students for the first time 40 years ago this month. In celebration of this milestone, the College has produced a 40th anniversary video as a way to commemorate its monumental achievement of student success, access and affordability spanning 40 years. The video also provides an opportunity for the College to showcase its role as a major factor in the economic well-being of the communities it serves.

The College is offering the video in various formats to allow everyone viewing access. Web users can view the video in two segments on YouTube by going to the College’s Web site at www.bartonccc.edu and clicking on the links in the left column of the page.

Barton will air the video next week on its Cougar Channel, channel 14, for those who have Cox Communications as their area cable provider. The video will be looped to air from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sept. 14-18.

Additionally, Barton will distribute DVD copies of the video to area libraries and chambers of commerce to allow for public access of the video. Area civic organizations can receive copies of the video upon request by contacting Barton’s Public Relations Department, 620-792-9307, dawesm@bartonccc.edu.

Those who want personal copies of the video can purchase them for $20 a piece by contacting the Public Relations Department.

The video is separated into 14 themes titled, “In the Beginning,” “Today,” “Employees are Community Resources,” “First Students,” “Reaching Out,” “Serving Industries,” “Education for Military Community,” “Online Education Takes Off,” “Affording Opportunities,” “Expanding Access,” “Quality of Life,” “Beacon for the Arts,” “Changing Family History through Opportunity,” and “Vision for the Future.”
