Barton Community College Phi Theta Kappa members Hannah Voelker, left, Linn sophomore, and Laura Macek, Wilson sophomore, along with several other members, load boxes of grocery items they collected from Barton employees for the Barton County Food Bank. Phi Theta Kappa provided food drop-off boxes for each building on campus and challenged each building to compete for collecting the most items. This year, 1,086 items were donated, and the Science and Math Building won the contest with 261 items. The Administration Building came in as a close second with 253 items. Phi Theta Kappa national honor society organizes the food drive on campus each year. This year, the campus came close to doubling the amount raised last year for the Food Bank. Co-sponsors of the group are Technical Accounting/Accounting instructor Kathy Boeger and English instructor Stephannie Goerl.
