Barton Community College’s Forensics (Speech and Debate) Team will present a performance recital and fund-raiser from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157. Admission is free, but donations at the door are welcome for the team’s travel expenses.

The team will perform the forensics pieces that they have been presenting at competition events, including Dramatic Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, Program of Oral Interpretation, Dramatic Duo Interpretation, After Dinner Speaking and Impromptu Speaking.

Performers will include sophomores Kris Schneider and Dani Bullard, both of Hoisington; sophomore Stephen Lingurar, Great Bend; freshman Sara Stacey, Hutchinson; freshman Wes Young, Kansas City; and freshman Lance Kilgore of Chase. Some of the performances have mature themes.

This fall, Barton’s forensics team has traveled to competitions at Kansas State University, Bethel College, Kansas City Kansas Community College and Hutchinson Community College, and the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

The team has been highly successful representing Barton Community College through the semester. Competing against some of the top programs in the nation, the students have won four separate community college team sweepstakes awards and placed in events every weekend they have traveled.
