Barton Community College’s Music Department will present its Music Endowment Concert as a celebration of the College’s 40th anniversary, featuring Barton’s Concert Choir, Hilltop Singers, and Hilltop Singers Alumni Choir.
The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in the college’s Fine Arts Auditorium. Admission fee is $5; however, Barton students will be admitted free with their college IDs.
The Endowment Concert is an annual showcase of the various vocal music groups at the college. Directed by Barton’s choral music instructor Vern Fryberger, the groups will present a variety of choral styles. The concert will feature music from the past 40 years including show tunes from “West Side Story” and classic pop hits by Toto, Tina Turner and the Beatles.
In celebration of the College’s 40th anniversary, all former Hilltop Singers are invited back to campus for an afternoon rehearsal, campus tours and evening banquet followed by the Music Endowment Concert.
The alumni group will rehearse and perform two selections for the finale of the concert. Any former Hilltop Singers who would like to participate should contact Fryberger, frybergerv@bartonccc.edu.
All proceeds from the concert will be placed in the Vocal and Instrumental Music Endowment managed by the Barton Foundation.
“We are fortunate to be able to offer music scholarships and music performance awards to our Barton students,” said Fryberger. “We hope to one day have the ability to self-fund all of our music awards and scholarships through the Music Endowment.”
