Barton Community College’s student newspaper, the Interrobang, received a first-place award in the American Scholastic Press Association college newspaper contest.
The Interrobang staff for 2009-10 includes Kayla Simmons, Analisa Garcia, Ricardo Acosta and Eduardo Torres, all of Great Bend; Augie Morton and Willie Hodges, both of Larned; DeAngela McDougald, Junction City; Ashley Kennedy and Lindsey Niermeier, both of Hoxie; Levi Schlick, Colby; Eric O’Connor, Somerset, N.J.; Brooke Conley, Wichita; Erica Palmer, Sylvan Grove; and Elijuan Pearl, Kansas City.
The Interrobang also has plans for a new design. Journalism Adviser Yvonda Acker, said the staff is planning to redesign the newspaper this summer to make it more cost-effective and environmentally friendly. In addition, the Journalism Department is working on plans to unveil a new multi-media website to give students an opportunity to try broadcast journalism.
