Having fun in a friendly, outdoor competiton setting can produce great benefits for Barton Community College's faculty. This year on April 15th many local and regional shooters will join each other at LaSada Sporting Clay and Hunting Service for the 5th Annual Barton Foundation Sporting Clay Shoot. This event has continued to grow each year...we were the largest sporting clay shoot in the state of Kansas in 2011! Once again, the proceeds of this year's shoot will fund mini-grants for Barton faculty. Last year we were able to award over $9,200 in mini-grants for the purpose of enhancing the classroom learning experirence for their students.
There are four major division winners: high team and high score in the men's, ladies, and youth divisions. This is the only Foundation fundraising event in which youth are involved, and that division continues to grow each year. Our shoot also consists of individual and team Lewis-class divisions which allow many more participants to win a nice gift, cash, or both! Sport pocket knives will be given to everyone who registers by April 1, 2012. The event has a shot gun start so you can come throughout the day to shoot and then leave whenever you want. The fee is $60 per shooter, which includes a meal and 100 clays. You must provide your own shells (which can be purchased at LaSada's).
Foundation board members are now soliciting sponsors for the event. Individuals and businesses taking the opportunity to be a sponsor of the clay shoot are one reason that our event is so successful. Our sponsorships are greatly appreciated and have continued to increase, which speaks highly of the event and the targeted population of the shooters. Butterfly Supply, Inc. and Smith Supply, LLC are this year's major sponsors. There are several different levels of sponsorships, so anyone can contribute. If you would like additional information on being a sponsor call Darnell Holopirek at (620) 792-9367. If you would like to participate in the shoot, please call LaSada's at (785) 483-3758.
We hope the weather will be beautiful and the shooters are ready to come have fun while assisting Barton students reach their educational goals.
