1998 George Tregellas

George TregellasOne of the most ardent supporters of Kansas community colleges will receive the 1998 Distinguished Service Award from the Barton County Community College Foundation on May 14 during commencement ceremonies at the College.

George Tregellas was first elected to the Barton County Community College Board of Trustees in 1979, and became vice-chairman four years later. He has been chairman of the board since 1991. Tregellas has served as a delegate to the Kansas Association of Community Colleges, and was appointed to the Governor's Community College Advisory Council in 1986 and again in 1989.

Tregellas graduated with an associate's degree in 1941 from Pratt Community College and has been a resident of Great Bend since 1943.

A regular donor to the Foundation's Academic Enrichment Fund Campaign since 1988, George established an endowed music scholarship as a memorial to his wife Cleo who died in 1997.

He has two children, Michael of Lambertville, New Jersey, and Deborah Tregellas-Baker of Sandy, Utah.
